How to install and activate the LiteSpeed Cache module in PrestaShop 1.7

Introduction

One of the many features available when using our Speed Reaper plan is the LSCache PrestaShop Module. It is available for free, and it gives that extra bit of performance your website needs to shatter the competition. In this article, we will go over the installation and activation process of the module for your PrestaShop 1.7 Online Store. The process is analogical for PrestaShop 1.6 - therefore, if you are utilizing the older version, you may also follow the instructions in this tutorial. Let’s begin!

Getting Started

To begin the installation process, you need to have a PrestaShop website available (doh)! To download the module, please click here. After you have downloaded it on your local computer or device, please enter the admin dashboard of your PrestaShop. The URL to access it will vary, depending on what you have chosen during the installation. If you are not sure which one it is, you can go to the root directory of your domain. Once there, look at the folders, and you should be able to find it. Typically, it should be “admin” with a bunch of string characters attached to it - for example, “admin37563956” so that people cannot easily guess it.

When you land on the page, please enter your PrestaShop login credentials and access your dashboard.

Installing the LiteSpeed Cache Module

Now that you are logged, please point your attention to the side menu on the left. Locate the “Modules” option and expand it. From the expanded choices, select the “Module Manager” option.

Access PrestaShop Module Manager

Doing so will redirect you to the page where you can manage your PrestaShop module installations. As you have already downloaded the required files, you need to upload them to initiate the installation. To do so, please click on the “Upload a Module” button located on the top right side of the page.

Upload PrestaShop Module

This action will present you with a popup window under which you need to drag-and-drop the zip archive you downloaded earlier. Alternatively, you can click on the “select file” link, which will open another popup window, letting you select the file from your local folders.

Select PrestaShop file to upload

Once the file is selected, there will be a brief loading period. When finished, you will be notified the installation had been completed successfully. To activate the module, please click on the “Configure” button.

On the right side, you will see a toggle switch, which is set to “NO” by default. Please click on the “YES” option to enable it. When ready, please click on the “Save” button at the bottom of the section.

Activate PrestaShop LiteSpeed Cache Module

Once this is done, a notification indicating the module has been successfully activated, the cache has been flushed, and your .htaccess was updated will appear at the top of the page.
